Susan Micari, M.S., Ed., BCET

Susan Micari, M.S., Ed., BCET approaches her work with honesty, kindness and compassion. She sees her role with students as more than helping to pave the way for success in the classroom. She sees it as promoting a student’s overall well-being.

Micari is a nationally recognized, board-certified educational therapist and founder of Ed Therapy 360, which offers students custom-designed, research-based educational programs and learning techniques that address individual learning challenges and disabilities. Through Ed Therapy 360 students are empowered to achieve success and manage their educational experience and overall well-being.

As Central Virginia’s only educational therapist certified by The Association of Education Therapists (AET), Micari works with, and advocates, for children, teens and adults who struggle with a variety of learning challenges and disabilities. She also is a licensed reading specialist, certified in Virginia and New York.

With more than 20 years in private practice, Micari takes a student-first approach to supporting students with individualized, research-based learning interventions, as well as assist parents in navigating schools’ educational processes.

She believes that every student deserves the chance to achieve success in the classroom and beyond and is highly trained and experienced in working with students who suffer from a variety of learning challenges and disabilities that inhibit scholastic success. These can include, but are not limited to, ADHD, non-verbal learning disorders (NVLD), dyslexia and trauma-related issues.

Micari has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals including The Association of Educational Therapist Journal. She also has appeared on NBC’s The Today ShowSusan’s articles and videos can be found on our blog page.

As a licensed reading specialist Micari is trained in The Wilson Language System, PAF, Fountas and Pinnell reading instruction and The Hochman Method: The Writing Revolution. She also is trained in Mindful Schools mindfulness training for teachers and students.

Micari is a graduate of Syracuse University and received her master’s degree in education from Bank Street College of Education in New York. She also is a graduate of The Organization Program at the William Alanson White Institute’s certificate program in organizational psychology, in New York, NY.
